Clementine Hunter Gone Fishing Hand Painted Needlepoint Canvas Primitive Art
Clementine Hunter, primitive artist, was born at Hidden Valley Plantation near Cloutierville, Louisiana in 1887. Ally Griffin (later known as Sally Brandt) of Bunkie, Louisiana painted needlepoint canvases in the style of Clementine Hunter. She had a repertoire of about 30 Hunter canvases.
This hand-painted needlepoint canvas was donated to The Settlement Home for Children. Its history is not known but it appears in great shape. It has not been stitched. The original description card is attached. Please take a moment to view our About Me page.
